MCKINNEY, Texas — McKinney police have arrested two suspects accused of involvement in a Wednesday night shooting that resulted in the deaths of two people, officials say.

At about 8:07 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to an apartment complex in the 3300 block of North McDonald Street about a shooting.

Witnesses reported seeing a 19-year-old man approach a dark gray Dodge Ram parked at the complex, police say, followed by an exchange of gunfire between the man and a 20-year-old man from Princeton who was a passenger in the truck. Both men were shot.

Police say the Ram arrived at Medical City McKinney shortly after, where the 20-year-old and 18-year-old Christopher Perez were dropped off. Perez was arrested at the hospital.

The 19-year-old was taken to Medical City McKinney by EMS, police say, but he and the 20-year-old both died from their injuries.

Police say the driver of the Ram, 21-year-old Josue Mejia, was found leaving the area, and a chase with police started. It ended at a Richardson car dealership after Mejia got out and tried fleeing on foot, but police arrested him after a short foot chase.

Perez and Mejia were both charged with murder in connection with the shooting and booked into the Collin County Detention Facility.

Police say this appears to be an isolated incident and there are no known outstanding suspects. Investigators are still working to determine what led to the incident and everyone's role in it.
