Suspect dead in officer-involved shooting in Oak Cliff

One suspect was fatally shot by a Dallas police officer in Oak Cliff Wednesday morning.

The incident took place in the 3700 block of West Davis near North Kramer Street. Police confirmed an officer pulled over a car after its license plates weren't recognized.

Dallas Police said multiple suspects, including one with a handgun, fled from the car. An officer chased the armed suspect on foot to a nearby yard, where the suspect jumped a fence.

"At some point the suspect turned towards the officer with the handgun. The officer fired his weapon striking the suspect," police said.

Sources told News 8 the officer asked the suspect to drop his weapon multiple times before shooting the suspect.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital, where the suspect was pronounced dead.

No officers were injured.

Officers had not located the other suspects or the vehicle as of noon Wednesday.
