ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington police have charged a man with the killing of a 28-year-old man found shot to death in his home last month, officials said.
The suspect, 20-year-old Marshall McLemore, was charged with one count of murder, according to a police news release.
Police found McLemore on Thursday in Corpus Christi and arrested him without incident, officials say. He is being held at the Nueces County Jail and will be extradited to Tarrant County.
Police say they recovered fingerprints of McLemore inside the home of the victim, Alexander Rivas, in the 300 block of Kingfisher Lane. Multiple witnesses reportedly came forward on the day his body was found with information implicating McLemore, police said.
Cell phone records obtained by police put the suspect at Rivas' home within the timeframe of the killing, police said, and showed he had been talking to Rivas just before the incident.
According to police, officers responded to the incident at about 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, after a man flagged them down.
The man reportedly told the officers he had gone to a home in the area to check on a family friend, but when he entered, he found a dead body inside, police said.
According to police, officers went inside and found the body with multiple gunshot wounds in the living room. Police said investigators weren't able to identify the man due to the condition of the body, but they believed he had been killed multiple days prior.
According to police, relatives of the home's registered tenant said they had not heard from him since early Saturday afternoon, which led them to contact the family friend who reported the body.
Police say they also believe high-risk drug activity was involved based on evidence from the scene.
