Suspect arrested after allegedly firing shots, barricading himself inside Fort Worth business, police say

After a short standoff, the suspect was taken into custody by a SWAT team, police said.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A suspect is in custody after firing shots and barricading himself inside a Fort Worth restaurant Thursday afternoon, police say.

According to the Fort Worth Police Department, officers responded to the 3400 block of Blue Bonnet Circle after a report of a man firing gunshots in the air around 2 p.m. When they arrived, officers said the man barricaded himself inside the Mellow Mushroom, a pizzeria.

After a short standoff, the suspect – identified by police Saturday as Caleb Reverie – was taken into custody by a SWAT team, police said.

Due to the proximity to the TCU campus, an emergency alert was sent out to students and staff, informing them Fort Worth police were responding and to avoid the area. TCU police were also called to assist Fort Worth police officers with traffic control to ensure pedestrians and vehicles didn't enter the area during the standoff.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

At this time, Reverie's motive was not known.

The investigation is ongoing.
