Security video shows suspect crash into Benbrook home during chase with Fort Worth Police

Thankfully, no one was inside the home during Thursday evening's crash. The suspect was arrested for evading and other charges.

BENBROOK, Texas — A family in Benbrook is thankful they weren't home around 5:30 p.m. Thursday because, around that time, an unknown male suspect came flying through their neighborhood in a stolen black sporty SUV and crashed through the wall of their garage near Westpark and Lakeway Dr.

The family told WFAA they were lucky the damage wasn't greater and that it was only their garage.

"You'd imagine it would have been like super loud. It sounded more like a little thud," said neighbor Jaden Delgado.

The suspect was leading Fort Worth police officers on a high-speed chase after they spotted the stolen wheels and tried pulling the suspect over, a spokesperson told WFAA.

Security footage from Jaden Delgado's family across the street tells the rest of the tale.

The SUV can be seen coming up Lakeway and making a sharp turn onto Westpark before losing control and crashing into the home of Delgado's neighbors. The suspect immediately gets out, tries running away, and clumsily jumps a fence before police officers arrive at the scene and take him into custody.

The man was charged with evading and other outstanding warrants.

Most of the damage had been cleaned up on Friday. The family impacted told WFAA that they're renting the home and that the damage won't force them to relocate.
