DENTON, Texas — The Denton Police Department announced that 31-year-old Daniel Butureza was arrested for his role in a deadly shooting that took place on May 25.
According to police, Butureza, 34-year-old Zachary Lowe, 24-year-old Riley Clowers and 25-year-old River Williams approached a pickup truck in the 3200 block of W. Windsor Drive and forced the driver to the ground at gunpoint.
Butereza reportedly blocked in the truck during the assault so the driver couldn't leave.
Police say Williams got into the passenger side of the truck with a gun. However, the driver got into the truck again and attempted to drive away with Williams still inside.
According to police, a struggle for the gun ensued inside the truck and both the driver and Williams were shot.
Police say Williams was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives were able to determine that Lowe, Clowers and Butureza were responsible for murder as they presented guns during the aggravated assault and Williams died during that assault, according to police.
According to police, Butereza was arrested on Thursday without incident. He currently sits in City of Denton Jail with no bond set yet.
Police say Lowe was arrested for murder in Saginaw on Tuesday afternoon with assistance from North Texas and East Texas US Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Lowe is currently in the City of Denton Jail, police say.
According to police, Clowers had been arrested for murder on the day of the incident. He remains in Denton County Jail with a bond of $100,000.
The Denton Police Department says this investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Detective Logan Miller at (940)-349-8156.
