GARLAND, Texas — It’s been two years since Garland Police say a 14-year-old boy fatally shot three other teens at a convenience store, then disappeared.
Abel Acosta allegedly shot and killed 14-year-old Xavier Gonzalez, 16-year-old Ivan Noyola and 17-year-old Rafael Garcia on Dec. 26, 2021 at a Texaco convenience store in, police say. Investigators have been searching for Abel ever since.
A Dallas County jury found Abel’s father, Richard Acosta Jr., accused of being the getaway driver for his son, guilty of capital murder in February for his role in the 2021 shooting.
Police say Richard drove his son to the convenience store on the day of the shooting, and he reportedly turned himself in after police circulated surveillance footage.
During Richard’s trial, as WFAA reported at the time, prosecutors alleged Richard encouraged his son to act and helped conceal him from arrest, but Richard said he didn’t know what his son planned to do.
Those with any information about Abel's whereabouts have been asked to contact authorities at 972-272-8477 (TIPS), or at www.garlandcrimestoppers.org.
