Flyers signed by 'Trump Klan' member attached to campaign signs in Texas

The flyers are signed, "Sincerely, The Grand Dragon of Trump Klan #124; San Marcos, TX."

SAN MARCOS, Texas — The San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) said it has received two reports of intimidating flyers attached to campaign signs in the city.

The flyers threaten that the reader has been identified and is now in the "National Database of miscreant Harris supporters," either by "social interactions with your neighbors who are on our investigations team, or by yard signs, or vehicle bumper stickers."

The flyers go on to say that "once the magnificent Donald Trump assumes the Presidency again," the reader will be audited by the IRS, going back to their first tax return, and "at a minimum --- 4 years of painful misery and attorney's fees."

The flyers are signed, "Sincerely, The Grand Dragon of Trump Klan #124; San Marcos, TX."

SMPD said it is actively investigating the reports it has received and working to identify the people responsible.

SMPD said the notes were found on Friday on residential yards a half-mile apart.

It's a Class A misdemeanor, and if you are got and convicted you can face up to a year in jail or a $4,000 fine.

"Just a year ago we had antisemitic notes in people's driveways, and two or three years ago before that, we had another incident similar to that, so just the fact that every so often this keeps happening is concerning to us," said Assistant Police Chief of San Marcos Brandon Winkenweder.

John Hatch is the chairman of the Hays County Democratic Party.

"It's clear voter intimidation, to be threatening that, 'We know who you are. We are keeping a list. We are going to monitor who you are and turn it over the IRS.' Whether it’s legit or a joke, it’s not funny," he said.

Hatch said this won’t keep people from voting.

"You are not welcome. Your threats don't mean crap to us," Hatch said.

The department asks any residents who find a flyer on a sign in their yard to contact SMPD and leave the flyer in place – officers will come to remove it.
