18-year-old arrested, charged in shooting of Uber driver, police say

Officers found the victim, a 24-year-old male, in his car with a gunshot wound in the back of his neck, police said.

SAGINAW, Texas — Police announced the arrest in a June shooting where an Uber driver with three passengers inside was critically wounded in Saginaw. 

The shooting happened at approximately 8:46 p.m. on June 24 in the 200 block of E. Bailey Boswell Road. Police said a second vehicle pulled up next to the victim's gray Nissan Sentra and began shooting at his vehicle. Officers found the victim, a 24-year-old male, in his car with a gunshot wound in the back of his neck, police said.

The victim told police he had picked up three men at "an undisclosed location" before the shooting.

Saginaw police said in an update Friday that officers arrested 18-year-old James Lee Earl Wallick on July 17 and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing traumatic brain or spine injury that results in irreversible paralysis. 

Wallick was booked into to the Tarrant County Jail. His bond has been set at $21,500, jail records show.
