SACHSE, Texas — A Sachse middle school teacher is being accused of indecency with a child by sexual contact.

Hudson Middle School teacher Michael Roell, 35, turned himself in Monday. Hudson Middle School is part of the Garland Independent School District.

An arrest warrant states that the victim's mother called police back in May and reported her son and another boy being inappropriately touched by Roell at school.

In all, the warrant states that three boys were interviewed and told officials that Roell "touched their groin areas and watched them use the restroom on several occasions."

One student told officials that Roell had "watched him use the restroom" and helped him clean up afterwards, the warrant reads.

According to court documents, Roell “admitted to touching the genitals of victim #2 when he was checking for a rash.”

In court documents, Roell, a special needs teacher, has said he was assisting the students. Per the arrest affidavit, officials said "the touch described by Roell was invasive and more than a mere physical examination.”

The warrant states that school officials told police that the students didn't need assistance in the restroom, and that "Roell should have never touched or watched" the students.

Roell was arrested without incident following the charges being filed against him.

Update on August 6, 2024: A Dallas County jury acquitted Roell of the indecency with a child by sexual contact charge in March 2018.
