ROWLETT, Texas — Two suspects are in custody on multiple charges after they reportedly rammed into a police car during an attempted burglary, Rowlett police say.
Police say they were called about suspicious activity Tuesday night near the 3700 block of Pilgrims Mews, where witnesses reported suspects loading materials into a van from a nearby construction site.
While responding, police say the suspects intentionally rammed into the officer's vehicle, which led to a chase. Officers chased the vehicle to the northwest side of Rowlett before it stopped at the end of Hillridge in the Chiesa Estates mobile home community.
Both suspects reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled to a nearby wooded area, police said. Police established a perimeter and called in the DPS-101 helicopter and Garland police K-9 units, but suspects weren't able to be found.
Police did eventually arrest two suspects and found two vans loaded with lumber, officials say. Both suspects' charges include evading arrest and criminal trespassing. Additional charges may be issued pending more investigation.
