Pregnant suspect hospitalized after police chase ends in crash, Cooke County Sheriff's Office says

When paramedics arrived, the suspect, only described as a woman in her 20s and about five to six months pregnant, was transported to a local hospital, officials say.

GAINESVILLE, Texas — A pregnant woman is in the hospital after allegedly leading officers on a police chase in a stolen vehicle before crashing in Gainesville, the Cooke County Sheriff's Office said. 

According to the sheriff's office, Denton County law enforcement was in pursuit of a vehicle on northbound Interstate 35 when the pursuit entered Cooke County late Tuesday morning. The sheriff’s office said the suspect eventually struck another vehicle and crashed in the area of I-35 and Hockley Creek Road – leading to the closure of the northbound lanes.

The Cooke County Sheriff’s Office said when paramedics arrived, the suspect, only described as a woman in her 20s and about five to six months pregnant, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The sheriff’s office confirmed that the occupants in the car that the suspect crashed into were uninjured.

The sheriff’s office told WFAA that the Krum Police Department was the first agency to pursue the suspect. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
