A Houston man beat a co-worker to death in a fight over lost car keys early Sunday morning, according to Carrollton police.
Police responded to a call from witnesses about the incident at The Delux Inn on the 1800 block of Interstate 35-E around 3 a.m. Sunday. Officers arrested 40-year-old Martin Gutierrez, Jr. on the scene.
Gutierrez and his co-worker were among a group of contractors who traveled from the Houston area to North Texas for a construction project. They were staying at the motel.
Police say Gutierrez was charged with murder.
Next of kin had not been notified, and thus the victim's name had not been released.
