DALLAS — The Dallas Police Department Special Investigations Division arrested 30 people on Wednesday during an operating targeting people soliciting prostitution in Northwest Dallas.
Along with the 30 people arrested, five handguns and $3,400 in cash were seized.
The Northwest Prostitution Task Force and Northwest Crime Reduction Team/Deployment helped DPD SID with the operation.
This is the second operation executed by DPD this month targeting prostitution. The last sting was also based in Northwest Dallas along Harry Hines Boulevard.
Brandie Cox, who owns a veterinarian business off Harry Hines in Northwest Dallas, says prostitutes are flooding the neighborhood. She shared some videos with WFAA showing alleged prostitutes in her parking lot, at times, wearing very little clothing.
”It’s embarrassing as a business owner, and it’s a safety issue for us but we are also concerned about these girls. They are getting younger and younger, and there is a lot of violence towards them as well,” Cox told WFAA.
Dallas Police say they've heard the complaints from the community. So, the vice unit began operations earlier this month.
”We understand it’s an issue and so we wanted to attack in a different way,” said Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia.
