Plano police searching for suspects after several car break-ins at a park

Police said it happened at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve in Plano last Friday morning.

PLANO, Texas — Plano Police are searching for the people behind several car break-ins reported at a park.

Police ay the break-ins at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve in Plano last Friday morning.

Darla Green is a friend of one of the victims and was there the day it happened. She said they met around 9 a.m. that morning to walk the trail. When they came back to the vehicles around 10 a.m., all they saw was shattered glass.

“We came over to her car, and her back passenger window was just not there,” said Green. “We’re all vulnerable and we don’t…I didn’t realize it until it happened.”

Green said some of her friend’s valuables and important information had been stolen.

“Majority of people that walk here, do what we do just what we did and hide our valuables thinking they're safe cause there's a government building right here,” said Green.

Jennifer Chapman with Plano police said it’s important to hide your valuables before arriving at your destination.

“A lot of people just look for an opportunity, and unfortunately that day they did,” said Chapman.

Plano police are still searching for a suspect. If you know anything or have any information, you’re asked to call police.
