BRIDGEPORT, Texas — Bridgeport police arrested one man Sunday after another man was shot and killed following a fight.
Officers were called at about 12:42 p.m. Sunday about a fight in progress in the 2000 block of 16th Street, where two men were reportedly fighting physically near the Bridgeport Medical Lodge.
The caller further reported they heard gunshots, police say, with one of the men walking toward the rear entry of the building.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim injured, police say, and witnesses told officers the alleged suspect fled through the building's rear door. The suspect was quickly found behind the building and arrested. They also found and secured a gun near the suspect.
After receiving medical treatment from the Bridgeport Fire Department and Wise County EMS, the victim was taken to Medical City - Decatur, where he was pronounced dead at 1:35 p.m., police say.
Neither the name of the victim nor the suspect has been released as of Sunday evening.
