LEWISVILLE, Texas — One person was killed in a shooting that briefly closed Lakeway Drive in Lewisville Thursday, police said.
Police responded to a call about an active shooter in the 1800 block of Lakeway Drive and detained the shooter shortly before 11:30 a.m., the department said in a social media post.
The Lewisville Fire Department took one person to a local hospital, who was later died, the department said.
“The incident is isolated and the suspect and victim were known to each other,” police said.
Lakeway Drive was closed to traffic as police investigated, but it was reopened by about 1 p.m.
WFAA chopper footage showed multiple police cruisers at the scene and a dog searching the area.
Neither the shooter nor the person who was shot were identified, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing. No other details were immediately available.
