MESQUITE, Texas — Mesquite police say three people in a white van tried to take an ATM from a 7-Eleven store early Monday.

Police say they were called to the store in the 4900 block of Gus Thomasson Road shortly after 4 a.m. Monday and found a van with a chain trying to pull the ATM from the business.

One person fled on foot, and the van, which was found to have been stolen, circled the neighborhood until two others got out on foot in the area of San Marcus Drive and Materhorn Drive, according to police.

Officers say they found one of the van's occupants in a shed in the backyard of a home in the 3000 block of San Marcus Drive and made an arrest.

Police say they haven’t found the other two people who were in the van. The ATM wasn’t taken from the store.

This is a developing story.  We’ll update this story as additional details become available.
