DALLAS — Editor's note: This story previously reported details from a separate chase that involved Mesquite Police officers. Those details from the unrelated chase have been removed from this story.

Authorities took a chase suspect into custody after a car and foot pursuit through Dallas County on Monday afternoon, officials say.

Around 1:20 p.m., Kaufman County officials said the chase started in Forney, when constables tried to stop a vehicle with a paper tag.

The suspect vehicle, a black Mercedes, fled, leading to a chase.

The suspect vehicle eventually entered the Dallas area, where multiple law enforcement agencies joined in.

Around 2:20 p.m., WFAA’s news helicopter caught the moment, the suspect bailed of the car and ran on foot through a neighborhood in northeast Dallas.

The suspect could be seen placing the hood of his sweater over his head, running without shoes, and jumping fences.

A police K-9 was called to the scene and caught up to the suspect. The suspect jumped onto the hood of a vehicle to avoid capture by the K-9 and was then taken into custody by an officer at the scene.

The suspect’s name hasn’t been released at this time.
