JACKSBORO, Texas — A Jacksboro man was arrested Wednesday after an hours-long standoff with police following an aggravated assault call.
Officers responded to the call around 12:43 p.m. off N. Main St. in Jacksboro. Police say the initial incident happened at the Mesquite Trail Apartments off 5th Street. According to JPD, 36-year-old Brandon Hall was physically assaulting his girlfriend, who he lives with, with a knife and his fists.
The girlfriend was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say they then obtained a warrant to arrest Hall, but when they went to arrest him at the apartment, he barricaded himself inside and threatened to kill himself.
JPD says they barricaded the surrounding streets as a precaution. According to a release, a negotiator with the Texas Department of Public Safety attempted to talk to Hall over the phone, but Hall claimed he was "saying his goodbyes" and hung up the phone.
According to JPD, officers then decided to enter the residence, where they tased Hall, who was wielding a knife. Hall was treated by EMS and then taken to Jack County Jail.
Police say they cleared the barricade at 4:30 p.m.
