DALLAS Nickey Van Exel is free on bail.
The son of former Dallas Mavericks star Nick Van Exel had turned himself in on a capital murder charge earlier this week.
Police said the younger Van Exel shot his friend and neighbor, Bradley Bassey Oyo, then dumped his body at a park on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard.
Through his lawyer, Nickey Van Exel claims the shooting was an accident.
He was released from jail after his bond was reduced from $1 million to $25,000.
