DALLAS — Dallas police said five people were shot at an apartment complex Friday night.
According to police, three adults and two juveniles between the ages of 10 and 15 were shot at the apartment complex in the 200 block of Stoneport Drive shortly before 9 p.m. Friday.
Police said all five of those shot were taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
Police said unknown suspects shot at a group of people in a parking lot of the complex and left the scene in an unknown vehicle. Police are investigating the shooting.
While investigators said only two injured were juveniles, one of the victims told WFAA three were 15-years-old or younger. That victim shared her story with us but asked to keep her identity hidden. The woman says she was, “lying in her bed inside her apartment when she was hit by a bullet.”
She went on to describe how daughter was also inside the apartment, stating, “if her daughter hadn’t moved when she did, she probably would have been hit too.”
Those living in the area say they are familiar with the sound of gunfire. High school senior Travell Hernton says he was too close to the violent scene.
“I was at the house…I'm like on this side right here by the street. So, after I saw, all I heard was like a couple of gunshot going out, said Hernton.”
He was shocked to learn some of the victims are younger than him.
"I'm speechless. I don't know what to say. That's just I hope I pray for the family and everybody. But that's just. That's crazy.”
In an update Saturday, Dallas police said the motive of the shooting was not known, but it was "believed to be an isolated incident and there is not threat to the public."
This is a developing story. WFAA will update this story as additional information becomes available.
