More victims? Police seek public's help after Arlington music teacher arrested on child sex abuse charge

Authorities have reached out to the public in an attempt to determine whether there were more victims after an Arlington guitar instructor was arrested on a sex abuse charge.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Police have charged a longtime Arlington music teacher with continuous sex abuse of a child under the age of 14.

Charles Reid Rogers, Jr., who taught music for more than two decades, was arrested on Feb. 13, 2019.

Almost one month later, an investigation into the case continues as detectives work to determine whether there were more victims that haven't yet come forward.

According to an arrest warrant, the investigation began after a man came forward and told police he witnessed Rogers inappropriately touch a young female student during a lesson at the Sounds Good School of Music.

The witness told police he went to the school on the afternoon of Jan. 11 to drop off an instrument for repair when he walked in on Rogers touching the child.

After further investigation, the victim confirmed to police that Reid first started inappropriately touching her on her third lesson, and the assaults continued for about three years until the witness came forward.

Liling Chapman, who owns the Massage Inn, said the nearby Sounds Good School of Music closed earlier this year. Chapman said her granddaughter took piano lessons from a different teacher at the school.

“I saw him many times,” Chapman said of Rogers. “He didn’t talk too much.”

She said she also knew the father of the victim in the case that led to Rogers' arrest.

“I was shocked," Chapman said.

Anyone with information pertaining to the case is asked to call Det. Trisha Walker, of the Crimes Against Children Unit, at 817-795-9992.
