MESQUITE, Texas — Mesquite Police are searching for a person or vehicles involved in a possible road rage shooting death that happened early Sunday morning
Police said the shooting happened sometime between 3:15 a.m. and 3:45 a.m. on Dec. 18 in the 5100 block of Samuell Boulevard.
Police said Francisco "Jaime" Garcia-Torres, 27, was shot and killed. Mesquite PD said the shooting is believed to be the result of road rage between several vehicles that were possibly traveling north on Buckner Boulevard from US Highway 175 before arriving at the location on Samuell Blvd.
Police told WFAA the victim and his girlfriend were leaving a party in two different cars ahead of the shooting.
"Appears they were following each other," said Mesquite Police Lt. Brandon Ricketts.
At one point, police said, they came to a stop in the 5100 block of Samuell Blvd., near Big Town Boulevard in Mesquite, where Garcia-Torres was shot and killed.
Police said, "at some point the suspect exited his vehicle, and fired shots into the victim's vehicle."
Garcia-Torres was driving a green Ford F-150 and his girlfriend was in a black Jeep Renegade.
"That’s information that if someone saw those, we’re looking for the 3rd vehicle, which we don’t know what it was," said Ricketts.
City officials have been planning to put up cameras on the same stretch of roadway where the victim was killed. Now, police are going from business to business looking for any surveillance video that may have captured the road rage incident.
"This is absolutely devastating to any family, especially around the holidays, we are seeking any help that we can find," said Ricketts.
