DALLAS — A warrant has been issued for a former teacher/coach at The Providence School of Dallas in the alleged sexual assault of a child in 2007, police say.
After a yearlong investigation, Dallas police said detectives determined the incident involved a person Matthew Harmon, 46, met while working at The Providence School of Dallas, where he served as a teacher/coach from 2004-2007.
Investigators with the Dallas Police Child Exploitation Squad issued a warrant for Harmon's arrest on May 28, and he has been taken into custody, according to a police news release.
The Dallas County Sheriff's Office confirmed Harmon bonded out.
The release said detectives "have identified additional victims, and believe there may be other victims still not identified."
Police said Harmon had also worked as a volunteer at Trinity Christian Academy for several years, helping with an 8th-grade wilderness camp. He also worked summers at Kanakuk camps in Durango, Colo., and Branson, Mo., police said.
“Through the course of this investigation, detectives determined Harmon had been in contact with thousands of children through his work and volunteering," the police release said.
Police say additional charges are possible, but more information was not released.
