Man wanted for murder arrested after Dallas standoff

DALLAS -- Shots were fired inside a room during a standoff at the Walnut Hill Inn in the 2100 block Tuesday afternoon.

At 4:30 p.m., officers from the North Texas Fugitive Task Force were attempting to serve a murder warrant at the motel, where they located wanted suspect Benjamin Strauch.

As officers and task force officers attempted to apprehend Strauch, he ran into his motel room and fired multiple rounds from a weapon, according to police.

Officers immediately retreated and called for the SWAT team's assistance.

Shortly after 7 p.m., SWAT made entry and the suspect surrendered without incident.

The suspect showed minor injuries and was transported by Dallas Fire-Rescue to Parkland Hospital due to exposure to tear gas. Upon release from Parkland, Strauch will be transported to the Fort Worth City Jail where he'll be booked on a murder charge.

Strauch was wanted in connection to the murder of Kelly Duane Kvale, who was found fatally wounded on May 30 in the 2200 block of Evans Avenue in Fort Worth.
