FRISCO, Texas — A 19-year-old was arrested after he stabbed a Lyft driver in the neck and stole their car on Monday, police said.

According to the Frisco Police Department, 19-year-old Antwain Williams stabbed the Lyft driver in the neck around 5:45 p.m. Monday at the Legends at Legacy apartment complex. Police said Williams then stole the driver's vehicle and drove off.

Frisco PD said despite a deep cut in his neck, the Lyft driver was able to communicate to police what happened. According to police, the Lyft driver was treated by fire personnel and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Frisco PD reported he is now in stable condition.

Around 9 p.m. Monday, officers spotted Williams in the stolen car, but he was able to evade them, police said. According to Frisco PD, multiple agencies then helped saturate the area, and officers were able to apprehend Williams after a second pursuit and a foot chase.

Williams was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, evading arrest with a vehicle and evading arrest on foot. Williams also had an outstanding warrant for sexual performance by a child, police said.

"The incident described has no place in the Lyft community or our society. Our thoughts are with the driver, and we have reached out to offer our support. We have permanently removed the rider from the Lyft platform, and are assisting law enforcement with their investigation,"a Lyft spokesperson told WFAA.
