DENTON, Texas — The Denton Police Department says an investigation is underway after one person was left dead following a shooting at an apartment complex late Monday night.
According to the department, officers responded to the shooting call just before 10 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of E. McKinney Street.
When officers arrived at the parking lot, they found a man, identified as 23-year-old Daniel Ryan, with gunshot wounds. Officers tried life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and Ryan was transported to a local hospital.
Denton Police said Ryan was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
Denton Police said the male suspect stayed at the scene and was detained. He is cooperating with the investigation.
Detectives revealed Ryan and the suspect, who has not been named at this time, did not know each other prior to the shooting.
