DALLAS -- A jury has sentenced a 39-year-old man to death for killing his estranged wife and drowning her 6-year-old daughter.
The decision came Friday. The same panel last week convicted Gary Green of capital murder in the death of Lovetta Armstead and Jazzmen Montgomery.
The Dallas Morning News reported that, during victim impact statements, people were visibly moved as a roughly 30-second video of young Jazzmen was played in the courtroom Friday.
Police say Armstead, who was stabbed more than two dozen times, was seeking to have their 2009 marriage annulled.
Investigators say Green drowned Jazzmen in a bathtub and forced his two stepsons, who were 9 and 12 at the time, to view the corpses.
The September 2009 attacks took place in the family's home.
