DALLAS — Seven people were arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that also injured a 12-year-old boy who were inside a pickup truck earlier this month, the Dallas Police Department said.
At about 8:30 p.m. on May 19, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 400 block of Alcorn Avenue. After they arrived they found four people inside the vehicle with two passengers suffering from gunshot wounds.
Jose Garnados-Cerritos, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 12-year-old boy was taken to the hospital and is currently listed in stable condition. The pickup truck driver and another juvenile passenger were not injured in the incident, police said.
On Wednesday, May 29, police announced seven arrests in the case; Valerie Davalos, 21; Guillermo Alvarez, 18; John Marquez, 18; a 14-year-old and 16-year-old juvenile; Kimberly Mejia, 19; and Alexis Rosales, 26.
All of the suspects except Rosales face murder charges. Rosales was arrested on a probation violation.
During the investigation, it was determined that the shooting took place in the 600 block of Jonelle Avenue, and the driver left the area before stopping about a mile-and-a-half away on Alcorn Avenue.
