Arlington man arrested in connection to murder of 20-year-old

ARLINGTON, Texas — A 21-year-old man was arrested and booked on multiple charges, including the murder of a 20-year-old man, according to the Arlington Police Department.

On Aug. 30, Arlington PD says officers found the body of 20-year-old Zion Hodges near a car wash in the 2500 block of Brown Blvd. around 1:20 a.m. 

APD says after the murder, they received multiple tips about a man named "Maxxo," who police later identified as 21-year-old Sundall Barnes. Police say that Barnes was also suspected of breaking into a car and stealing a gun.

In a release, APD told WFAA they arrested Barnes on Sept. 7, 2024, while patrolling the area around Brown Blvd. Police say during their search, they found the stolen gun and later matched shell casings from the gun to those found at the murder scene.

According to jail records, Barnes is facing multiple charges: Murder, Theft of Firearm, Possession of Marijuana over 2oz., Burglary of Vehicles and Obstruction. 

Barnes is currently being held in the Tarrant County Corrections Center with a bond of $82,500 total.
