DESOTO, Texas — A man was arrested on Monday after firing off multiple rounds near a North Texas daycare center, according to the DeSoto Police Department.
Police arrested Jazion Lederrick Williams around 9:30 p.m. on Monday following a foot chase. DeSoto PD said it received multiple calls about a man shooting a gun in the 200 block of N. Hampton Road. When officers arrived, they found Williams hiding in the playground area of a local daycare center, police said.
Williams then ran from officers, jumping the daycare fence to get away, according to a release from DeSoto PD. Police said they then used a drone and a K9 to help find Williams. Eventually, the drone spotted Williams and officers were able to detain him in a nearby neighborhood near Chattey Road, according to police.
During the arrest, officers found a backpack Williams had been carrying, which contained an AR-15-style pistol, DeSoto police said. According to the release, DeSoto PD found 15 spent rifle casings in the backyard play area of the daycare, where Williams was originally found.
Williams was arrested and charged with evading arrest and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
