ARLINGTON, Texas — A man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at an Arlington apartment complex that occurred nearly 5 months ago.
On June 6, the Arlington Police Department responded to a shooting in the 2100 block of Cypress Club Drive. When officers arrived they found 38-year-old Marquis Holliman lying unresponsive on a sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Holliman was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
After interviewing witnesses, detectives attempted to speak with the suspect but learned he abruptly left Arlington not long after the shooting.
On Nov. 7, the U.S. Marshals located 31-year-old Robert Kelly and executed a search warrant obtained by the Arlington PD in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was taken into custody and charged with one count of murder.
Police believe the shooting originated from a verbal altercation between Holliman and a female neighbor.
According to police, Holliman pushed the woman and that's when another neighbor stepped in. Several moments later, shots were fired, police said.
Authorities say they received tips through Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County indicating a person named "Mike Mike," or Robert Kelly, was the shooter. Additional witness testimony said Kelly had a firearm in his waistband moments before the shooting, according to police.
Police said they also learned that Kelly stayed in the apartment often where the shooting took place. Ammo-matching shell casings found at the scene were also discovered at the apartment and were believed to belong to Kelly.
Kelly was booked into the Caddo Parish jail on a charge of murder. Arlington police said he will be extradited to Texas.
