Man, 42, dead after alleged kidnapping near DFW airport

DFW AIRPORT -- A 42-year-old man is dead after an apparent homicide on DFW Airport property, according to a statement from the airport.

Investigators believe the incident was not a random act, and the victim was likely followed to the gas station from a location off of airport property.

The man was inside a popular Shell gas station convenience store on the south end of the airport around 2 p.m. Thursday when he saw multiple people breaking into his car, according to the statement.

When he confronted the suspects, the victim was forced into another car that then left the gas station.

“Everybody heard the tires squealing," Eric Moore said. "That’s what caught everybody’s attention.”

Moore is an Uber driver who said he witnessed the bold crime at this busy service station.

“Yeah, he was hanging out, holding on to the doors as these guys were spinning out, driving crazy," Moore said. "They almost lost control three times.”

He said the stunned crowd at the station, which is a popular place to refill rentals before returning them, didn't know how to react.

“Everybody is just standing there like, 'What are we supposed to do?' We were just looking at each other like that," Moore said. "It’s like, 'I’m not going to jump in front of the car.'”

The victim was later found unconscious near an apartment complex roughly two miles away, on the 4300 block of West Northgate Drive in Irving.

He was taken to a Dallas hospital, where he died from his injuries.

“Irving Fire EMS was called and they transported the victim to Parkland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead,” said DFW Airport Spokesman David Magana.

Neither the victim's name nor how he died were immediately released.

Officers were later stationed on Rental Car Drive. One had an AR-15 rifle and was looking toward a wooded area.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are assisting in a homicide investigation.

No arrests had been made early Thursday evening, but police likely have lots of visual evidence. We counted three surveillance cameras at the station, and there were numerous witnesses filling up when the abduction occurred.
