IRVING, Texas — A 19-year-old has been charged with murder after shooting and killing a friend with a rifle in Irving, police confirmed to WFAA.
The Irving Police Department said Adrian Mendieta was arrested and booked into jail after officers responded to a home at approximately 1:45 a.m. on June 2, where Mendieta and the victim were socializing at the location with several other people. According to police, Mendieta was "handling a rifle that belonged to one of the witnesses" and "pointed the rifle at the victim and shot him."
The victim, identified by the Dallas County Medical Examiner as 20-year-old Aiden Turner, died at the scene, police said.
Everyone involved at the scene stayed there and cooperated with officers, police said.
Mendieta was arrested and booked on a murder charge, court records showed. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
There was no further information immediately available, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
