Homeowner shoots suspected car burglar in Oak Cliff

The burglar took off running and eventually collapsed around 2900 Seevers Avenue and died from his gunshot wound.

Police are investigating a fatal shooting in south Oak Cliff Friday morning.

A homeowner was asleep at his home in the 2900 block of Seevers. when he woke up to the sound of a person trying to kick open the door of the residence next to his.

The homeowner owns both residences and a relative lives alone at the address where the burglary in progress was occurring.

During the burglary, the homeowner got his gun and confronted the burglary suspect as the suspect tried to burglarize the homeowner’s car located in his side fenced in driveway.

As the homeowner confronted the suspect, the suspect approached the homeowner at which time the homeowner fired a weapon and shot him.

The suspect fled the location, but was discovered deceased a short distance from the scene. The homeowner was taken to the Jack Evans Headquarters to be interviewed and was released.
