HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A man was arrested Saturday for allegedly smuggling drugs inside the Harris County Jail.
Court documents allege Ronald Lewis, 77, smuggled in drug-laced papers to inmates in the Baker Street jail facility over the last four months.
Investigators said many of the inmates suffered from adverse effects of the drug-laced papers. Two inmates even died.
Lewis was charged with having a prohibited substance in a correctional facility. He is currently out of jail on a $15,000 bond.
Bringing drugs into a correctional facility is a felony. Lewis could face up to 10 years in prison.
