HALTOM CITY, Texas — Haltom City police are investigating what they believe may be a possible murder and attempted suicide after finding a woman dead and a man critically injured on Sunday morning.
Police said officers were called about a reported shooting at about 6:30 a.m. on Sunday at a residence in the 2900 block of Fincher Road, where they found a dead woman and a man with critical injuries.
The woman was identified as Maria Del Carmen Mendez, 52, who lived at the home, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office. Her cause of death has not been released yet.
The man who was injured in the incident has not been identified yet. Police said his name would not be released until he gets arraigned by a magistrate judge.
Based upon preliminary information, police said they are investigating the incident as a possible murder and attempted suicide.
The incident appears to be isolated, police said, and there is no threat to others in the area. Detectives are actively investigating the incident.
