GRAPEVINE, Texas — The Texas Rangers have been called to investigate a Grapevine incident that led to an officer firing a gun Tuesday night, according to police.

According to a social media post from Grapevine police, the incident started with a call about a man trying to break into vehicles at a parking garage. Police identified that suspect as 23-year-old Keyvionte Henderson, of Dallas.

Officers had been dispatched at 9:30 p.m. to The Silverlake apartments off of State Highway 26 by Bass Pro Drive.

Police said the officers confronted Henderson, who then got into his car and tried to drive away, crashing into a civilian car and an occupied, marked patrol vehicle in the process.

Henderson then drove directly toward two officers, according to Grapevine police. That's when one of the officers fired their weapon "to stop the threat," police said in the news release.

It's not clear if the suspect was struck by the gunfire.

According to police, Henderson then crashed into a transformer, which caught fire, before police chased him on foot towards Bass Pro Court and caught him at Cowboys Golf Course.

Police said Henderson was taken to a hospital for minor injuries before he was taken to jail. It's not clear if the officer's gunfire struck Henderson.

Henderson is now facing five charges, police said: Aggravated assault against a public servant, evading arrest/detention, evading arrest/detention with a vehicle, duty on striking unattended vehicle, and accident involving damage to a vehicle.

The Grapevine officer who fired his weapon is on paid administrative leave until this Rangers' investigation is finished, according to police.
