DALLAS — An off-duty Garland detective was charged by Dallas Police on a prostitution-related offense, the department said.
Officers issued a citation just before 2 a.m. on Jan. 21 for Walter Carter, 51, for possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, as well as "manifesting the purpose of engaging in prostitution."
According to Garland Police, the incident is under an internal investigation.
Manifesting the purpose of engaging in prostitution is committed when a person "loiters in a public place in a manner, and under circumstances manifesting the purpose of inducing, enticing, soliciting, or procuring another to commit an act of prostitution."
No other details about the incident or Carter's status with Garland Police Department have been released.
Carter is currently assigned to the property crimes unit.
