GARLAND, Texas — The Garland Police Department is searching for a suspect who robbed a Garland credit union on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say they were called about the robbery just after 1:30 p.m. to the Texans Credit Union in the 7200 block of Telecom Parkway.

Upon arrival, police say officers learned a man had entered the bank in a black suit with a straw hat and a white face covering. He reportedly handed the employees a note demanding money, and took off after receiving that money before police arrived.

There were no injuries and no weapon was used, police say. Richardson police are also helping search the area since the bank is on the border of both cities.

Texans Credit Union President and CEO David Frazier issued the following statement about the robbery:

“A non-violent incident occurred at our Garland branch location located at 7220 Telecom Rd, Garland, TX, 75044 on July 3, 2024. The safety and well-being of our members and staff is our top priority. Law enforcement is currently investigating the situation, and we are cooperating fully with their efforts. We can assure our members there is no threat present and we will continue to provide updates as necessary. The Garland branch location will remain closed today and is expected to open on July 5th, following the observance of Independence Day.”
