AZLE, Texas — A man was arrested on complaints of murder and tampering with or fabricating evidence after a woman's body was found in a backyard in Azle last week.
The woman, identified as Heather Treibly, was reported missing June 1, police say. She'd been missing since May 27. Police identified her as the body found hidden in the backyard in the 100 block of Ty Lane June 12, officials say.
Investigators identified Shane Breshers, as a suspect and got a warrant for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, police say. A probable cause affidavit states that Treibly's roommate had said Breshers was the last person they saw her with.
The affidavit details that Breshers had told police he spent time alone with Treibly on May 26 and May 27 at her residence, and said he had had sex with her during that time on two separate occasions and had smoked marijuana and methamphetamine with her.
On June 12, police said they were notified by property owners at Treibly's last known residence that they had found what they believed to be her body hidden behind the property wrapped in a pink sheet, the affidavit detailed.
Although a positive identification could not be made, the affidavit states that the body was wrapped in ccords matching the color of cords said to be missing from Treibly's room.
That same day, the affidavit detailed that police reviewed security footage found from Treibly's residence, which reportedly showed a man resembling Breshers pushing a yellow shopping cart from the house with a bundle inside similar to the bundle in found containing Treibly.
After securing a warrant for tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, Breshers was arrested on June 14, the affidavit stated.
During an interview with police, Breshers reportedly admitted striking Treibly in the head with his fist, and that he saw her fall unresponsive and had no pulse. He reportedly said he then wrapped her body in sheets from her bedroom, the affidavit details.
When asked by police why Treibly had a fractured jawbone, the affidavit states he told police he had kicked Treibly's body while it was wrapped in sheets. He then reportedly dragged her body down the stairs and put it into the shopping card to move it to the back of the residence.
Breshers was further charged with murder on June 14.
