FORT WORTH, Texas — Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a mother of four who was found partially clothed in a wooded area last week, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by WFAA.
Fort Worth police responded to a call Dec. 5 from a landscaping employee who found the body of Taterea McGuire on a gated property owned by the Fort Worth Water Department, the document said. Investigators learned that McGuire was reported missing to Arlington Police Dec. 3, 2024, after her mother had not heard from her for 24 hours, the affidavit stated.
Police learned that McGuire and her boyfriend, LeDarren Tilley, 37, had recently been fighting, according to the affidavit. In an interview, McGuire's four children said their mother and Tilley, who is not their father, had a history of domestic violence, the affidavit stated. The children also confirmed that Tilley carries a gun either on his person or in his car, police said in the affidavit.
Tilley denied any involvement in McGuire's death in an interview with police, stating that he dropped McGuire off at her home after an argument and drove straight to his father's house in Dallas, according to the affidavit. The following day, he returned to take the children to school and McGuire was not there, Tilley told police, the affidavit said.
However, police said they obtained evidence that a car matching the description and license plate registered under Tilley's name was in the area where McGuire's body was found on the night of her disappearance.
A GoFundMe page created by McGuire's mother describes her as "the sweetest person who would do anything for anyone."
Tilley was arrested and charged with murder, according to jail records. He is currently in jail with a bond set at $250,000.
