PLANO, Texas — A Fort Worth man has been indicted by a federal jury as part of a conspiracy that moved drugs into Washington D.C. using the U.S. mail system, authorities say.
U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs announced the indictment Thursday, identifying the suspect as 28-year-old Jimmie Jalen Humphries.
According to court documents, in April 2023, Humphries mailed 5,000 fentanyl pills from Frisco to the Washington, DC area. He was on supervised release for federal firearms violations out of Michigan at the time of the alleged offense.
During his arrest, authorities executed a search warrant at his home, resulting in the seizure of fentanyl pills, a large undisclosed amount of money, ammunition, and extended high-capacity pistol magazines.
He's also facing possession with intent to distribute fentanyl charges.
If convicted, Humphries faces 10 years to life in federal prison.
This case is being investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Brooks.
