FORT WORTH, Texas — A Fort Worth police officer was arrested while off duty and charged with driving while intoxicated, the department said.

Fort Worth Police Officer Willie Nash was arrested while off-duty around 8 p.m. Sunday by Grand Prairie police, the Fort Worth Police Department said in a press release.

Grand Prairie police said officers had responded to a possible intoxicated driver on I-20 after two separate callers had reported the driver to 911. When police located the driver on a Texas 161 service road, they initiated a traffic stop and then arrested Nash for driving while intoxicated, officials said.

Results of a blood test are still pending.

After learning of Nash's arrest, the Fort Worth Police Department Internal Affairs Unit began an administrative investigation, the department said. He was placed on restricted duty and stripped of police powers during the criminal and administrative investigations, the release states.

Nash has been with the department for 18 years and was assigned to the patrol bureau at the time of his arrest, police said.
