FRISCO, Texas — A former North Texas teacher and coach has been arrested for possessing child pornography, the Frisco Police Department says.

Frisco PD says 65-year-old Charles “Chuck” Ray Brandon was taken into custody on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

According to police, an investigation began on Sept. 15 after the Frisco Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit received a tip, after which detectives obtained a search warrant for Brandon’s home in the 8400 block of Stonebrook Parkway.

During the search, police said, multiple images “meeting the Texas statutory definition of child pornography” were found.

Police said Brandon, who is the sole occupant of the home, was arrested for Possession of Child Pornography – a third-degree felony. If convicted, Brandon faces anywhere from two to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000. His bond has been set at $30,000.

Police said Brandon is a former teacher and coach in the Dallas and Richardson areas. Richard ISD confirmed to WFAA that Brandon departed the district in 2021 after working at Berkner High School as a speech, debate and mock trial teacher for 29 years. The district said for much of that time, Brandon was also a girl's soccer coach.

In a statement to WFAA Wednesday, the district said it sent a letter to parents informing them about Brandon's years of employment by the district. School officials said there's currently not any RISD students, current or former, reported as victims.

"The investigation is ongoing and Frisco Police would like to raise awareness about the arrest among current, and especially former, Berkner feeder pattern families. Mr. Brandon passed a background check as a condition of RISD employment and the district is not aware of any records or reports of inappropriate conduct with students during his time at Berkner H.S.," the district told WFAA.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Frisco Police Department at 972-292-6010. Tips can also be sent anonymously by texting FRISCOPD and the tip to 847411 or by downloading the Frisco PD app available on Android and iOS devices.
