Former medical assistant accused of sexually abusing children at North Texas pediatric practice, police say

The former medical assistant is accused of sexually abusing multiple children during medical exams, according to police.

IRVING, Texas — A former medical assistant at a North Texas pediatrics practice is accused of sexually abusing multiple children during their medical exams, police say.

The suspect, Angel Nunez, 25, worked at Little Spurs Pediatrics locations in Irving, Grand Prairie, Arlington and Fort Worth between August of 2023 and August of 2024, according to police.

Police say they were made aware of the allegations against Nunez in late August after receiving a report of abuse that happened at Little Spurs Pediatrics in Irving.

“During the investigation, it was found the suspect…who Little Spurs Pediatrics employed as a Medical Assistant, had inappropriate sexual contact with multiple juvenile patients on separate occasions,” police said in a statement. “These patients believed they were receiving a medical exam and were not aware at the time that they were being abused.”

An arrest warrant affidavit details how Nunez allegedly used the ruse of a hernia exam, followed by a second exam, to inappropriately touch a 14-year-old patient at Little Spurs Pediatrics in Irving.

"The defendant tried to conceal the fact that he was performing the test, and it is not part of his normal or authorized duties," The affidavit reads. "There was no medical reason for this exam to be performed twice during the victim's visit."

Little Spurs Pediatrics said in a statement to WFAA it reported the incident to Child Protective Services, launched an internal investigation and fired Nunez once made aware of the allegations.

“Little Spurs has been caring for children in the communities we serve for more than 15 years, and we are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all patients and their families. We recently learned that an employee conducted a medical procedure beyond their scope of practice and outside of our established guidelines,” the statement read. “As soon as we were made aware, we promptly reported the incident to Child Protective Services, launched an internal investigation, and terminated the employment of the employee in question. Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the former employee, and we are fully cooperating with their investigation.”

Nunez was arrested on a complaint of indecency with a child Sept. 5 and was released from the Dallas County Jail Sept. 7 after posting a $100,000 bond, according to police.
