ARLINGTON, Texas — A father and son were arrested Wednesday night by Arlington police after an argument between the two led to a shooting.

According to police, officers responded to the 200 block of Blair Lane around 8:05 p.m. to the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police say officers found two men, 64-year-old Sammy Longoria and his son 43-year-old Sammy Longoria Jr., fighting in the garage. The father had an apparent gunshot wound on his arm.

According to police, officers separated both men and learned that the two of them got into a verbal fight, and at one point, Sammy Longoria Jr. went outside with a gun and fired a shot through the window of his father's bedroom, hitting him.

Officers said they believe the father physically assaulted Sammy Longoria Jr. sometime during the argument and may have had a gun.

According to police, investigators learned that the father had prior felony convictions, which legally barred him from owning or possessing a gun. He was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

As for Sammy Longoria Jr., police say he was arrested for aggravated assault and family violence using a deadly weapon.

In addition, police say officers obtained a search warrant for the home and found marijuana inside, so both men are facing drug charges.

After being taken to the hospital, both men were cleared and taken to the Arlington City Jail, according to police.
