The judge who sentenced "affluenza" teen Ethan Couch to 10 years of probation after he killed four people in a 2013 drunk driving crash has spoken out about the case for the first time.
The Daily Mail found retired Judge Jean Boyd outside her home and asked her about the punishment. Couch was deemed a victim of "affluenza" during the trial -- meaning he was too spoiled to understand the consequences of his actions.
Boyd told The Daily Mail, "I had all the facts - most people don't. They just don't understand."
She also said she has no regrets about the sentence.
It was recently decided that Couch's case will be moved to adult court following his flee to Mexico. Video surfaced of him attending a party with beer pong, a violation of his probation, so he and his mother Tonya crossed the border.
Since his return to Texas, Couch has been transferred to an adult jail facility in Tarrant County. Sheriff Dee Anderson says he will remain in solitary confinement for his protection until his 19th birthday in April -- when his case will be moved to adult court.
Couch's mother has been under house arrest since her return to Texas.
