ELLIS COUNTY -- Two chase suspects were arrested Tuesday after firing shots at Ennis Police Department officers.
No one was injured.
According to police, the incident began at 7:30 a.m. when they received a 911 call saying someone had opened fire on a home in the 400 block of Avenue C in Ennis.
When officers arrived, they spotted a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. An Ennis police officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped away and a chase ensued.
Officer Mike Hopson with Ennis police said the suspects, a male and female, fired multiple shots at officers during the chase.
The suspects abandoned their vehicle in an area near Slama Road in far southern Ellis County and the incident turned into a chase on foot.
The suspects were caught and taken into custody at about 3 p.m. and transferred to the Ennis Police Department. We are working to get details on how the suspects were apprehended.
The Department of Public Safety, the Ellis County Sheriff's Office, and Ennis police were involved.
